FAIREST & MOST CONSISTANT

JESSINTA MARTIN 2014

I was 5 years old when I first tried ice skating. It was something I had never experienced before and I loved every second of it. So I convinced my mum to keep taking me back and as they say the rest is history. I started competing shortly after that, and knew there was nothing else I would rather be doing.

Working my way up from Tiny Tots to Senior Ladies, I have had the opportunity to compete in many competitions around Australia. I have competed in many state championships and have become a raining 10 time state champion in all national levels. Another highlight for me was when I won the silver medal at the 2006 national championships in Queensland. In 2008 I was lucky enough to be a part of the Andre Rieu tour, touring around Australia with 40 other skaters. I have also been a part of many ice shows, here in Adelaide as well as China, Hong Kong and Singapore. Winning gold with the Adelaide Ice Magic team in 2011 in Minnesota was also an experience of a life time.

My biggest achievement in skating was when I was selected to be in the cast of Disney on Ice. An ultimate dream of mine since the day I started skating. I was lucky enough to perform with them in New Zealand which was an absolute blast. I met so many great people and felt straight at home from the very first day. I am very excited to be heading off again to America and Canada with them soon!

As my sister Bianca won this award in 2013, I was very excited and proud to be the 2014 winner. I feel very honoured to have been chosen by the skating community. Noarlunga Figure Skating Club and my amazing coach Teresa Sinclair has always supported me through my many years of skating. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve half the things I have.

BIANCA MARTIN 2013

I started ice skating recreationally at the Lonsdale Ice Rink when I was about 5 it wasn’t until I was 8 that I had my first competition at the Noarlunga Ice Rink.

After my first competition I loved it and it became my major hobby. Some of my greatest achievements so far have been passing my primary level testing, competing at Hollins, Sydney, Autumn Trophy, Canberra, Olympic Trophy, Melbourne, Winter Sun, Brisbane and representing the state at Nationals for the past 2 years.

I really enjoyed doing the Liza Emmanuelle Show and doing Disney pre-show for the first time was great.

I was also proud to receive the spectators choice award for my artistic competition in which I performed to Grease.  It was a great honour last year at the club championships to win the fairest and most consistent award.

Bianca Martin was nominated by our coaches last year and she was awarded it for her consistency and commitment to the Club and the sport.
